What is geothermal energy?

Geothermal energy, also referred to as shallow geothermal, is natural heat and cold stored in the underground. In addition a minor fraction of heat flow along the geothermal gradient (from the hot core of the Earth) is added.

Even though the temperature on earth fluctuate depending on weather and time of year our earth constantly absorbs about 50% of the sun's energy, more than 500 times more energy than mankind needs every year. This energy is stored below earth, in the form of clean, renewable energy, at a more-or-less constant temperature range of 3-10 degrees C in Sweden and 45 to 70 degrees F in North America. The variation in temperature is connected to geography and the underground temperature in one place, lets take Stockholm Sweden, is quite stable around 7-8 degrees C.

One could say that the Earth is the biggest solar collector that exist! And without any installation or material cost... Geoenergy is classified as renewable energy and has late gained an enormous interest worldwide.
